Villa Althea – Mango (CN)

Villa Althea is a noble country estate dating back to the early 1800s, located in the heart of the Langhe and surrounded by vineyards of Dolcetto and Moscato. The villa enjoys a breathtaking view of the castles of the Roero (Guarene, Castellinaldo, and Govone), the Alps, and the hills of Monferrato. It lies just 4 ½ miles away from Neive, a charming town of famed Barbaresco production, and even closer to Mango, a Moscato-producing town. Its seven guest rooms are decorated in gorgeous, unique themes inspired by artists and designers such as Monet and Van Gogh, and among its offerings are the billiard room; a horseshoe-shaped pool surrounded by large Art Nouveau windows; a sauna with a beauty and wellness center; a well-stocked library; and a fully-equipped kitchen, ready for cooking classes. On the same floor, crutin were discovered during restorations to the villa. These cellars carved into the tuff rock may have served as a military outpost or an escape route, once connected to the Mango Castle. Today, they house excellent local wines; guests may arrange for private wine tastings with local sommeliers.

Castello di Guarene – Guarene (CN)

The Castle of Guarene is an 18th century palace that was built by local nobleman Carlo Giacinto Roero. It is beautifully preserved in its aristocratic spirit of the past with all works of art, period furniture, and decorations intact. It is a modern-day fairy tale and an essential stopping point in any itinerary of the Baroque highlights of Piemonte, as it both a first-class resort and museum. Lavishly furnished bedrooms, haute cuisine, fine wines, wellness, and comfort combine with historical heritage to offer guests an unforgettable experience. Its twelve large bedrooms are named after historical figures of the castle and stay true to the original floorplans and frescoes. Immerse yourself in the same surroundings as Carlo Giacinto himself did, with the added advantage of modern comfort and convenience. The stunning indoor swimming pool is excavated into the rocks and offers beautiful views of Alba, Langhe, and Roero; and the wellness center hums with a mystical atmosphere with its Finnish sauna, colorfully lit caves, Jacuzzi, and salt cave. Don’t forget to book a custom massage, body, or facial treatment.

Boscareto – Barolo (CN)

As the only five star luxury hotel in the Langhe, Boscareto is undoubtedly one of the zone’s top resorts. With excellent attention to detail and almost opulent design, it offers a breathtaking view from its natural balcony surrounded by 32 hectares of vineyards. The resort offers all the comforts one expects: a covered pool, a fitness area, a Finnish sauna, aromatic Turkish baths, and relaxing spa showers. However, what really makes this gem stand out is its restaurant La Reia, headed by two-star Michelin chef Antonio Cannavacciulo, a star in his field – literally, as he starred in the Italian version of Gordon Ramsay’s show on Fox Life, Cucine da Incubo (Kitchen Nightmares). In addition, its excellent wine selection includes the greatest Barolo wines of the area, including those from the winery Beni di Batasiolo, owner of the resort. The Boscareto offers 38 rooms and suites, a modern banquet hall, and spacious indoor room and outdoor options for buffets and cocktail parties.
