The wines of Alto Piemonte will be in Novara in April for the biggest wine event of the territory ever organized
On Saturday, April 1 and Sunday, April 2, the Castle of Visconteo Sforzesco in Novara will host Taste Alto Piemonte, the first event dedicated to all the wines of Alto Piemonte. It is promoted by the Consortium of Alto Piemonte Nebbiolo with the sponsorship of the Municipality of Novara and the support of the Chamber of Commerce and ATL of Novara.
“What we’re organizing in Novara will be a true preview of the territory,” says the president of the Consortium, Lorella Zoppis, “because we’ll present ourselves all together for the first time, strong in our production and in our roots. Taste Alto Piemonte will allow wine lovers to learn more about the DOC and DOCG denominations via tastings and one-on-one talks with producers, and more. Our goal is to show how much the territory and the wineries that bring it alive have grown, both in numbers and quality, and to share our enthusiasm and passion. We have invited a selected group of Italian and European journalists to come and see first-hand our production and territory, so they might become ambassadors of Alto Piemonte in the world.”
Taste Alto Piemonte - Event details
The event will take place over two days and will be hosted in a magnificent venue: the beautiful rooms of the Castle of Visconteo Sforzesco in Novara.
On Saturday, April 1 from 3 to 8 pm (with 11 am to 3 pm reserved for journalists) and Sunday, April 2 from 10 am to 8 pm, the winemakers of Alto Piemonte will interact with the public and members of the wine & spirits industry in a walk-around tasting and during seminars, highlighting the details of the diverse denominations of the territory, with the support of AIS Piemonte.
The event will give wine lovers the chance to discover the latest vintages of the 10 Alto Piemonte denominations: Boca DOC, Bramaterra DOC, Colline Novaresi DOC, Coste della Sesia DOC, Fara DOC, Gattinara DOCG, Ghemme DOCG, Lessona DOC, Sizzano DOC, Valli Ossolane DOC will be the ambassadors of the great vocation and tradition in winemaking contained in the hills between the Alps and Lake Maggiore.
Here, the native grape varieties—nebbiolo above all, together with vespolina, croatina, and uva rara—prosper with the support of deep cultural roots, a unique microclimate, and extraordinary volcanic soils. The natural and human factors and terroir of Alto Piemonte make for a truly unique territory, capable of turning out wines of incredible quality yet far from the trends of the market and international blends.
