This wine was born in the famous and hononymous cru of Monforte, one of the historical and oft-considered best vineyards for cultivating Nebbiolo for Barolo. The earth, composed of a mix of sand and clayey marl, contains a high level of lime; the exposition is perfect; and the altitude is ideal for Nebbiolo. Germination in the Ginestra cru is precocious because of the quick warmth of the earth and light received in the zone.
The characteristics of the soil, together with its depth and good water retention, give the wine structure, longevity, and a fineness of particular elegance. In addition to these great qualities, the vines give a constant production that is guaranteed even in difficult years like 2002.
