Browsing recently my photos (and there are quite a few), I realized the strength of Italian design and creativity. This inspired me to write an article about Italian lifestyle, which attracts so many people from all over the world. Tourists immediately fall in love with the cuisine, breathtaking landscapes, and always cheerful inhabitants of the Apennine peninsula.

I do not know how the Italians do it, but they have a wonderful gift to capture what is best in life. Maybe the reason is nice weather, beautiful landscapes, or wonderful food? I think it’s quite hard to be sad and to complain when you're surrounded with great views and amazing wine… I still wonder how it’s possible that such a small town like Alba (only 35,000 inhabitants) is bustling every weekend, regardless of the season and the weather. In pizzerias, bars, clubs you can see crowds of people having fun. And when summer comes the event extends over the entire week. On the main squares and small piazzas the music invites people to dance, meanwhile in the nearby vineyards and castles wine tastings are organized and bars start to compete with the variety of aperitivo buffet. Light lunches eaten in the sun on the beach in Liguria, followed by a aromatic sip of espresso drunk al banco is a kind of standard.

The Italian lifestyle also means omnipresent football. Each Monday at work starts with a conversation at the coffee machine where people comment on the recent Serie A scores. Believe me, it’s impossible to imagine Sundays in Italy without calcio… It provokes so many emotions, vivid debates, sadness or happiness in case of won match.

Of course there are difficult times also in Italy. A lot of Italians (especially young people) struggle with unemployment, high taxes (direct and a long list of hidden ones), thousands of problems for running a business. Just like us in Poland, they complain about the politicians, the financial situation in the country, barriers and difficulties entrepreneurs meets in everyday work. But despite that they all smile, they meet with friends, regardless the weather or the season, they go out and try to enjoy life. Which I wish the same for us, all people living in Poland… In the end, la dolce vita is at hand, all you need to do is just to grab it.

I’m Polish blogger and freelance journalist tasting “la dolce vita” by traveling around Piedmont. As Italia is my passion since the childhood I’m happy having the chance to discover  the kingdom of  great cuisine and probably the best wines in the world, but also charming little towns and interesting history. My blog  Bel Piemonte (available also in Polish and in Italian) was born to show the beauty of this region and to encourage others to discover this part of the Apennine Peninsula.
